Yash Khandelwal

Connecting your custom domain to CutMe Short enables branded short links, improving credibility and brand visibility. However, some users might face issues where their domain remains in a pending state even after setup. If you’re one of them, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered!

Below, we’ll walk you through the step-by-step process to connect your domain and troubleshoot common issues that may prevent verification.

Step-by-Step Guide to Connecting Your Domain

Follow these instructions to ensure a seamless domain setup:

  • Select “Connect New Domain” from the CutMe Short dashboard.

  • Enter your domain name and choose the correct setup option:

    • Use the root domain if it is not linked to an existing website.

    • Use a subdomain if your main domain is already associated with an active website.

  • Update DNS Settings in your domain provider (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.):

    • Add an A Record pointing to 139.59.221.173

  • Save changes & return to CutMe Short, then refresh the page to check the connection status.

  • Once verified, your domain is ready for creating branded short links.

Common Issues & How to Fix Them

1. DNS Verification Delays

Issue: Your domain is not verifying even after adding the A record.

🔧 Solution:

• Check if multiple A records exist. If so, remove all except the one pointing to 139.59.221.173.

• If using a subdomain, ensure it is not already in use elsewhere.

2. Domain Still in Pending Status

Issue: Even after setup, the domain is stuck in a pending state.

🔧 Solution:

• Double-check that the A record is pointing to 139.59.221.173.

• Remove any AAAA (IPv6) records from your DNS settings.

• DNS propagation may take a few hours, so wait before rechecking.

3. Custom Domain Shows “Invalid URL”

Issue: The domain redirects to CutMe Short but still shows an invalid URL error.

🔧 Solution:

• Verify there are no conflicting AAAA (IPv6) records.

• Ensure only one A record exists, pointing to CutMe Short’s IP.

4. CutMe Short Branding Appears During Redirect

Issue: Users see a CutMe Short branding page before reaching their destination.

🔧 Solution:

• Go to Settings → Links and disable branding.

• Note: White labeling is currently unavailable.
